Summer 2024 Camps

When and where to report (Drop off 8 am daily):

Monday - Coontown Crossing Recreation Area Oxford, MS (From Ole Miss Golf Course turn right on College Hill Road and go about 7 miles until you arrive at the boat ramp).

Wednesday - Clear Creek Landing Public Use Area (from Lost Pizza turn left towards mTrade park, go down Old Sardis road about 10 miles until you arrive at boat ramp).

Thursday - Clear Creek Landing Public Use Area (from Lost Pizza turn left towards mTrade park, go down Old Sardis road about 10 miles until you arrive at boat ramp).

Friday - Clear Creek Landing Public Use Area (from Lost Pizza turn left towards mTrade park, go down Old Sardis road about 10 miles until you arrive at boat ramp).

What to bring:

Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, athletic shoes, crocs or sandals, a water bottle, sack lunch

We provide all fishing gear and tackle!

Campers should wear lightweight long pants and long sleeves.

Overview

Fishing Camp - Ages 6-16 Week long camps (Monday - Friday) morning (8am - 12pm) sessions. Camps begin the week of June 3, 2024 and run through the week ending July 26.

Participants will gain an understanding of:

  • fish biology (behavior, diet, life cycle, spawning rituals, species identification)

  • fishing techniques, angling ethics, regulations, and best practices

  • the importance, evolution and history of angling in Mississippi and throughout the world

Activities may include:

  • A day of bass and bream fishing at a local lake

  • A day of guided crappie fishing on Sardis or Enid Lake with a licensed, insured, reputable local guide

  • A day of catfishing at a local lake

  • Spin and Fly casting instruction and basic fly tying

  • Common fishing knots: selection and how to tie

  • A visit to the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery

  • A look at commercial fishing including the opportunity to work alongside real commercial anglers and help harvest 20-100lb plus non-game gross fish (carp, buffalo, drum, catfish and gar)

Cost

Cost: $275/participant, siblings registered for the same session (week and time) are eligible for a $50/per person discount (max $150 per family living at same address).

50% discount for multi-week registrations (only one free rod and reel/shirt per camper)

Camp Dates (morning sessions available, 10 campers max per session, we reserve the right to refund or reschedule camps that do not meet minimum number of participants).
