Lake Washington - 8/1/2023 2:57:16 PM

Bass Try fishing around the piers on the eastern banks as well as areas with submerged woody structures on the west side of the lake. Try using lures that rise or sink slowly. The best lures to use are junebug colored Carolina rigged soft plastic worms or weighted jerkbaits. Target areas with 5 to 10 feet of water especially, early in the morning and late in the afternoon.

Crappie Crappie fishing has slowed back down on the lake. Try trolling in the deeper holes of the lake or try jigging near the cypress knees on the west side of the lake. Using jigs or minnows is always a good choice.

Bream For bream fish in areas with 4 to 6 feet of water using red worms or crickets. The cypress trees are always a good place for bream.

Catfish Try fishing the deep areas of the lake using liver, cut bait, or worms.

Bass Look for bass activity start to pick up with warmer temperatures on the way. Take a slower approach when fishing for bass during the winter months. Suspended crank baits, spinner baits, and worms are a good choice. Just fish them slow this time of year. Target deeper areas with underwater cover.

Crappie Crappie fishing at Lake Washington usually picks up fast as opposed to other lakes in the area. Anglers are having some success fishing in 5-6 feet of water while fishing about 4 feet deep. Look for any structure in the lake and try various depths. Using jigs or minnows is a good choice.

Bream Bream fishing is still slow at this time. However, look for activity to pick up with warmer weather on the way. Try using redworms at different depths.

Catfish Anglers are having some success catching catfish at Lake Washington. In recent years, Lake Washington has had the highest catfish catch rate compared to any other lake in the Mississippi Delta. Try fishing near the bottom with liver, nightcrawlers, or cut bait.

With the spawn behind us, anglers are having the most success trolling in deeper areas of the lake. Look for any structure in the lake. Using jigs or minnows is a good choice.

Bream fishing will also be in full swing in the upcoming week of so. Try using crickets or redworms at different depths.

Catfish bite will slowly improve as the warmer weather moves in. Try fishing near the bottom with liver, nightcrawlers, or cut bait.

Crappie fishing has heated up over the last couple of weeks at Lake Washington. Anglers are catching fish in the trees on the opposite banks fishing in 2-3 feet of water. Look for fish to be suspended about 18 inches deep. Look for any structure in the lake. Anglers are having the most success using jigs, but minnows is also good choice.

It's still a little cool for bream activity but as the warmer weather rolls in the fish bite will soon pick up. Try using crickets or redworms at different depths.
