2017 Blue Mountain Pumpkin Patch

2017 was the year Whitney and I finally got to go to the Blue Mountain Pumpkin Patch without adult supervision. Resa stayed home (it was hot and she had just had surgery).

As in prior years, we managed to enjoy ourselves despite the heat. We took a dove stool, which was a great idea except we lost it. We also took a wagon, which was just a great idea. We forgot enough cash, beer and ice, but we won't next year.

On the way there Whitney and I listened to a Macklemore song with lyrics that said "i wish somebody would have told me that someday, these would be the good old days"

We discussed and agreed that right then, driving down highway 15 with a nearly four year old daughter and one year old son in a white Toyota SUV to a $10/head Pumpkin Patch in Blue Mountain, MS would be a good old day, someday.

I wondered how best to avoid the pain of looking back at good old days you'd give anything to get back but didn't know they were good old days at the time. The answer seemed simple enough to me. Realize that every moment is precious. But the most precious moment of all is right now. Try hard to put your mind, your energy, your body, and spirit all in the same place at the same time. Or rather when serendipity brings them all together on your behalf, thank her, and live fully now.

Miss you Deck.
