21 Day Workout Challenge: Walk Six Miles

Challenge

For 21 days, walk at least 6 miles.

Why?

Because being active (and more importantly not being sedentary) is crucial to health and well-being.

Over the 365 day period prior to starting the challenge, my average step count was less than 9,000, and my average combined run/walk mileage was 4.1 miles. Setting a target of 6 miles represented just over a 20% increase in my daily distance.

20% isn't inconsequential. I walk at a 20 minute per mile clip, so I was committing to an additional 38 minutes per day, or 13+ hours for the period.
