Saturdays in The South
Saturdays in The South (or Weekend Shorts) is a collection of homemade videos that gives a behind the scenes look at how we live, learn and love.
Episode #1 Saturday July 25, 2016 (Daughters by John Mayer)
The video that started it all. I had a particularly enjoyable weekend with little girl last July (Trampoline Park, Pool, Chalking) and decided to put together a little weekend recap. It is set to Daughters by John Mayer, a song I have ironically been obsessed with since Freshmen year of College.
Episode #2 Saturday January 21, 2017 (Don't Ask Me No Questions by Lynyrd Skynyrd)
Got the kid a Dude-like cardigan and went with the whole family to Square Books, Jr, High Point Coffee, and YaYa's. Drew Zuma from Paw Patrol out of chalk on the garage wall. Took Dees to Baptist Hospital (just to eat a little bacon, which we discovered at Cal's birth was awesome). At the end of the weekend, we headed to Dick's
Episode #3 Saturday January 28, 2017 (Best I Ever Had by Vertical Horizon)
Happy Birthday Landry Dees! Wee-yum and KK (my dad William Miller and mom Karen Guthrie, respectively) flew in and rode together from the airport. We went logging, built fires, and had a little get together for Landry's 3rd birthday at Cloud 9. My rockstar wife ensured we had the best Peppa Pig cake money could buy, Chick-Fil-A nuggets, and adult beverages for the adults.
Episode #4 Saturday February 25, 2017 (Maybe I'm Amazed by Sir Paul McCartney)
Flew in on a first class seat next to Ryan Lochte. We went to Chick-Fil-A, the Dollar Store, and Wal-Mart. Smoked a pork butt (delicious) on Big Green Egg and made some homemade trail mix. Built a couple of fires and played outside.
Episode #5 Saturday March 4, 2017 (Another Story by The Damn Quails)
Drove into Mississippi this weekend. Painted in the Fort and played outside. Drove in Little Miss Everything's Princess carriage.
Episode #6 Saturday March 11, 2017 (Sister Golden Hair by America)
Went and picked up Tanner from Dollar General. Took the kids to Dick's where we ran around acted like fools. Played with wooden blocks that Big Daddy made for Cal and Dees for Christmas. Built a couple of fires, went to McDonalds, and played guitars at my old office, the Edison.
Episode #7 Saturday March 25, 2017 (Just Feel Better by Santana)
Took the kids on a walk, played outside without pants, ate spinach. Took Dees monkey to the rooftop of the Marriott and played in our old dryer. Got snowcones with mom, went to the pool. Came back to rooftop with mamasita. Went to Memphis for ZRP's birthday party and finished the weekend with a little painting, playing in the waterfall, and baby tossing.
Episode #8 Saturday April 8, 2017 (The Scientist by Coldplay)
"Oh yeah, near the party. But where is it?" Played in the sand at a construction site. Walked to the Grove for an Ole Miss Greek sponsored Easter egg hunt, we were late and missed it :( Still made it time to get our faces painted and see the Easter bunny. We let baby Cal try his first solid food (peanut butter, duh) at a little backyard bbq sans furniture. Pappy came to visit and then just like that, it was all over.
Episode #9 Coming soon
.
Episode #10 Saturday April 29, 2017 (Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova)
Brought my slack line to Ripley and drug out the old painting tarp slip n slide. Dees and I went to First Monday and saw lots of guns and animals. Played with "crystal boards" and went to Chick-Fil-A before heading home.
Episode #11 Saturday May 20, 2017 (Rocket Man by Elton John)
Big weekend! Took the whole Barton crew to Memphis airport and flew to Houston to see KK. Cal's first plane ride, Dees' twenty-ish. Played at KK's, visited Grandmaw Barton, swam at Big Daddy's and Amy's. Oh and the whole family picture thing. Ended our week long visit with a little get together at KK's.
Episode #12 Saturday June 3, 2017
A rainy humid weekend. Just like most of them. Started by having a flight cancelled. Didn't get to Ripley until Saturday. Took Tanner and Landry to the square for a crawfish cook-off. From there we got slushies and went fishing at Billy's. Sunday, despite rain and misery all day, was filled with backyard blow up pools, a campfire and smores.
Episode #13 Saturday June 10, 2017
Now, for the ladiest and gentlemen. Took Cal to his first farmer's market. Picked up a little cabbage, peppers, peaches, berries and a balloon. Went to the pool a couple of times, and the pool came to us too. These weekends, they fly by.
