JP Coleman/Pickwick Lake - 4/17/2019 6:24:27 AM
Pickwick Lake elevation: 413.92 ft. and slowly falling at the time of this report. Pickwick is spilling. Water temps are in the low to high 60s.
BASS
The bass bite was good. With the weekend rains, Bear Creek is running muddy. Bass can be found spawning in all of the major creeks. Some anglers had success sight fishing. Chatterbaits, squarebill crankbaits, Carolina rigs, and wacky rigs have been productive. Most anglers were catching bass in shallow water.
CATFISH
The catfish bite continues to be slow. Traditional rod-n-reel fishing seems to be the most popular technique. Anglers are targeting gravel bars and some of the shallower ledges and humps for the most part. Look for areas of water out of the current as fish will congregate there. Cut/whole shad and kool-aid flavor chicken are good bait choices right now.
CRAPPIE
The crappie action was good in Yellow Creek. Anglers casting along the banks had the most success. Several anglers reported catching limits of crappie each day. The bite also picked up in the Mill Creek area with most anglers side pulling or spider rigging.
