12/11/2020 Father Daughter Quail Hunt at The Q

I was due in Wichita Falls for the funeral of my very best friend's mother on Saturday and had hoped but not planned for quality shooters. When Belden Baptist Church Senior Pastor Shane McGivin and his daughter Caitlin arrived at the Q for a quail hunt I set aside those hopes and instead tried to figure out how to get both dad and daughter to harvest quail and enjoy their time afield.

After a brief settle in period, Shane, Caitlin and I were having a blast enjoying good conversation, swapping stories, and killing the heck out of birds. Shane spotted a covey run across a road into a nearby field and after hunting down a number of those birds, including one Caitlin shot, we ended up with over 100% of the birds turned out. It was a fantastic day and due to the shooters good shooting, I still managed to leave the ranch at an early hour and make it to Wichita Falls at a reasonable time. Great day! This was my first time guide a daddy daughter combo, though almost every other group included a father/son combo.
