09/06/2017 Public land hunting: Lake Lewisville

it is a beautiful thing that even in 2017, I am only 19 minutes away from public hunting opportunities  despite living in DFW, one of the largest population centers in the United States.

Scouting dates:

Wednesday September 6, 2017

After studying the map I was provided when I acquired my permit, I was a bit concerned that there would not be many opportunities to hunt from the shore based on the boundaries I observed.

Prior to heading out, I called the Ranger office and confirmed that there were sections of the corp land that were within the boundaries and not underwater.

The Ranger said he knew of many folks who hunted squirrels and said yes, you can hunt from the shore in certain sections of the lake.

I made the quick drive to Shady shore park and decided to walk from there in search of legal hunting areas.

Made the trip to doe branch and am glad I did. Saw deer, dove, ducks, and geese.
