12/23/2018 Shooting a dove snack at Hell Creek
While I may be wrong, I believe this gem of a day will also go down as my first recorded Mississippi dove kill. I left Christmas Eve Eve dinner and snuck away to Hell Creek Wildlife Management Area to scout for quail in the late February two-day season.
While we didn’t see any bobwhites, we jumped a couple of deer and saw more than a few distance dove working a tree line and bean field that had been disked lately.
After Dublin flushed a dove into some pines, we managed to scare it out and pop it, out only harvest for the day. He landed in impenetrable thickness that Dublin made quick work of on the retrieve and we rode home to cook him up into a dove snack. I want to hunt here more next year for Dove and be more consistent when I bow hunt.
