5/2/2019 Best Day Yet at North Cypress Lake (9 Bass on weightless fluke)
Mom came in town today for Landry’s dance recital. After I picked her up from the airport, I took off to Upper Sardis WMA to fish North Cypress Lake just outside Oxford, MS in my inflatable raft. This was by far my best day of bass fishing this lake, as I managed to catch nine bass, two of which were nice sized.

Unfortunately, the best fish of the day, an 18 inch bass that took my bait and swam with it was deeply hooked and would have died upon release. Rather than have him swim off and die, I kept him, brought him home, knocked the sides off him and honored his life and death with fried bass sliders on Hawaiian Rolls.
All 9 bass were caught on Zoom Bait Weightless Fluke rigs in bluegill and baitfish. I call this format the “Uncle Ricky Special” because my Uncle Rick Page fishes it deftly at his farm the Alps Ranch (and other places I’m sure).
The end of the trip was capped off with Dublin sight pointing the shallow flats while I cast in front of his nose and caught the last fish of the day.
