7/25/2020 Five Small Bass at Wood Duck Lake

Went back to Wood Duck Lake because hell why not. Got on the water around 5 pm after dropping Cal at Nana’s. There was another truck there I assumed had toted in the man I saw fishing in a kayak.

I fished around the dam before introducing myself and meeting an intermediate school teacher and basketball coach in his mid 20’s (Mr. Thompson, I believe). He graduated from Blue Mountain like my best good Mississippi Hunting and Fishing Buddy Austin Holt.

He had confessed (shirtless and sunburned) he had not caught any that day. He later went on to mention he had never caught one or see one caught at Wood Duck lake which I found odd as he said he had fished it for almost 20 years and I had a mess of bites and half dozen bass the first time I fished it a few days ago.

My camera was too hot to fish and film so I just fished. After ten or so minutes of chatting, I hooked and landed my first bass of the day (and the first one he had ever seen caught) at Wood Duck Lake. He left shortly after.

I stuck it out as best I could but it was hot and I wanted to get the kids back to Oxford before dark. All in all it was a nice day but from my limited experience it seems Wood Duck Lake is more productive during prime time rather than during the heat of the day.
